Film Review: Breaking Dawn Part 2

I was amazed by the opening credits to Break Dawn Part 2 as the series of images shown were truly artistic and creative. They symbolized Bellas transformation into a new-born vampire and for me these shots were perfect and could in no way be improved. However, as the film followed through I had less to appreciate not only from a contextual -as I felt the story somewhat lacked- but also from an artistic point of view.

Having read the book I had far higher expectations of the film.I initially thought that through mise-en-scene and jump cuts the director could present what life is like as a new-born vampire (through the use of visuals). The book describes what it is like but seeing it would make us, as viewers, enter a new world in the 'shoes' of a vampire experiencing her transformation. This is an experience that you can't get as much from books as from films and was therefore left extremely disappointed that the director chose not to explore into Bellas life as a vampire but more so into a vampire vendetta which was, in the end only a 'vision' that Alice was showing Aro. This made me feel as though I had wasted my time watching scenes that not only hadn't taken place but in the end never will.

All in all, the film was not worth the excitement I had contained for its release. The other only scene which I found interesting (or should I say beautiful) was when Jacob strips. More stripping and less fighting would have been far more agreeable and to my liking. Jokes aside, I was deeply disappointed.

Big Girls Don't Cry

Dear Man or should I say little boy,
I am dedicating this post to you, even if you don't deserve it. I know it pleases you to read my blog with your friends as laughing at my posts excites your low, pathetic life; Well, I hope this letter makes you content.

For starters, it was clear that you were a mistake. Like fire and ice, we should never have met as it only caused melt-down. Your lies and your foolishness crumbled our relationship and our values in the palm of your hands. You could not keep a secret, how I wish I could sew your mouth closed to forever conceal our words, never to let them leak again.

But what's done is done. I just wish you were less shrewd. I wish you didn't feed details of our short-lived moments to gossip hungry individuals. But evidently you are too immature to foresee that your actions have consequences.

After all, the person I feel sorry for is you; because clearly you are a person who can't be trusted and therefore will, in the end, loose friendships that could have been precious. You were once so dear to me but now the mention of your name sickens me to the core. I hope you feel big, as this was clearly your initial motive.

Farewell.

Someone I could never be.

I could never be that girl with chipped nail varnish. Call me high-maintenance but that's just me. The lazy connotation attached with the messy art-work. Half done, half complete. I guess you could call me a perfectionist, if you will. Call me whatever you please. But the girl with chipped nail varnish will never be me.
