Is love a lie?

'Love is a pile of bullshit that should be chucked in the bin and spat on. Repeatedly.' Harsh and controversial words, but seeing as 50% of marriages end in divorce- only a minority of people are married and this statistic excludes normal couples breaking up- they definitely speak the truth.

From a very young age we are deceitfully led to believe that once you find love there is a happy ending. The classic Disney films always portray perfection in a relationship, feeding young girls a belief that, out there there is a prince, who will complete us and we will live happily ever after. But why is it that Disney fail to show, that sometimes the prince won't search the world for his princess who lost her shoe? That sometimes, he'll give up searching and the 'princess' has to put in effort too. Or that sometimes he just won't want to search for you and that no matter how hard you try to fix a relationship or work at it, it just can't be fixed. Truthfully, I would have preferred it if prince charming wasn't so charming and if Snow White didn't have lips as red as roses because it is our imperfections that make us perfect.  The lie of it is that unless the princess is saved by her prince then she doesn't live happily ever after... But surely in order to live happily with a partner one must be happy on with themselves first? More successful it would have been, If Disney had a protagonist that didn't have a prince to rescue her but was still had a happily ever after.

What do you think?
