BEAUTY: Mascara reviews - NYC, Collection 2000, Benefit, Soap & Glory and Rimmel

Thick & Fast by Soap & Glory

  • This mascara is long lasting and separates your lashes so well and makes them look longer. Not much product goes onto your lashes so you have to do quite a few coats until it's effective and even so, it doesn't thicken the lashes by much. However, this means it leaves no clumps, giving you a very natural look for the day! Another advantage to this mascara is that it doesn't smudge during the day.
  • Cost-£10
  • My rating- 6/10

Longer Lash by Collection 2000

  • I really wasn't a fan of this mascara. I just found that it didn't make my lashes thicker nor did it make them longer. The brush is really small but, in it's defense it does separate and lengthen lashes quite well, just not to a sufficient extent in comparison to other products. If you are broke (or a student) like me, then you may want to buy this product because it costs so little.
  • Cost- £2.99
  • My rating- 3/10

They're Real by Benefit

  • I LOVE using this product! It is simply amazing. It does everything you want a mascara to do in just one stroke! It thickens, volumizes and lengthens lashes in a matter of minutes. However, this mascara is like a glue and once you've applied the product to your lashes after a few minutes they harden. So, it's almost impossible to add a second or third coat during the day and so tricky to take off in the evening! It's also quite pricey but, it's definitely worth investing in and only using it for evenings when you're going out, to get a sexy, smoldering look.
  • Cost- (embrace yourselves) £19.50!!!
  • My rating- 8/10

Show Time by NYC

  • Quite possibly the worst thing I've bought this year. I've used it twice and it will never go anywhere near my lashes again! This is such a bad product! It makes little if any difference to the appearance of your lashes. It claims to be waterproof; It's not. Just five minutes in the shower and it's all over your face! Don't be fooled by the cheap price! It's not a bargain it's a waste of  both your time and money. It's ok to use as a base mascara if, like me you like to use two. But I definitely would not buy this product as a stand alone mascara. You really do get your money's worth.
  • Cost- £1.99
  • My rating 1/10

Scandaleyes Lycraflex by Rimmel

  • Love, Love, Love. Is all I can say about this product! It's the best mascara I have had in a long while! I originally bought it because it was on offer and I would not look back. I love how it makes my eyes look so much bigger by adding so much volume and length to my lashes! It really is a super product and it doesn't even cost as much as a product this good should! It may leave the occasional clump but this can be easily sorted out with an eyelash comb. (If you don't have one you can just clean an old mascara wand and use that instead!) I love that the wand is big as it gives you great coverage so you don't miss out any little lash. It does take a while to dry so when applying it can smudge around your eye if, like me, your lashes touch your brow bone. This can also happen when applying mascara because the wand is big so it's easier to accidentally get it around your eye but this can so easily be sorted with a wet wipe in a matter of seconds!
  • Cost- £6.99
  • My rating- 9/10

FASHION: My first time... OOTD

This has been a big week for me! I got a job... WOOHOO! Which is pretty great because I will finally be bringing some cash in, however, as it's bar work the hours aren't too great. Preferably, I'd like to find a Saturday job so that I can study and do sports during the week and embrace what uni has to offer! It was also my first day at uni yesterday, so I've passed a great mile stone in my life! Here is a little post just on what I wore to my first time (night) at work and at uni.
Work ootd.

Uni ootd.
As you all know, like every girl I love a bargain! Hence, a fair few of the clothing items were bought in Primark. This includes my trousers, both my shirts and also the shoes I wore to uni, which my lovely boyfriend treated me to on the weekend. The ankle boots I wore to work are from Marks & Spencers and are my best buy this year as they are just so comfortable. I literally wear them everywhere. My watch is a Citizen 'eco-drive' in white with swarovski crystals which I also wear daily.

BEAUTY: Autumn Make-up

As summer ends and Autumn takes over, I have updated my clothes and make-up to suit the season. I've gone for a very natural look with a copper eye shadow. I love the colour of Autumn leaves hence why I choose this cooper-brown shade by givency for my lids. I used a dark brown to create more dimension and make my eyes look bigger by putting the darker brown on the crease of my lid and winging it towards my brown bone. I then used the same shade to contour under my cheekbones and jaw line. I used mascara mainly on the outer eyelashes to enhance the winged effect and then highlighted my brow bone with a highlighter. I finished off the look with a dab of YSL lipgloss in pink.

Use any foundation for a base and simply use these two products to recreate this look: It's quick and easy yet so pretty for an every day look!

BLOG RE-VAMP!

Hey everyone!
So, you may have noticed that I have slightly re-vamped my blog! The main noticeable change being the header. I had the same blog layout and design for over a year and really felt it was due for a slight change, but I wanted to stay true to my girly-self and so, decided to stick to the pink theme... I would love to know what you guys think of the recent changes and if you had any suggestions, criticisms, etc, that could help me understand you readers better so I know what I am doing right and wrong.
Thank you so much for staying in tune and reading my posts for the past year and a bit! You have followed me on my adventures in life from relationships and school life to holidays, how-to's and reviews. As I commence uni next week, my blog will take to new heights as I discover student life.

Lots of love

My Bath Essentials!

I love a bath every once in a while to wind down and relax after a hectic day. So, for all you bath lovers I thought I'd share with you what I find is essential in the bathing experience.

When it comes to baths I do love Aveda, I use the rosemary and mint body wash and lotion as it smells simply divine and also runs on your skin so smoothly. The certified organic rosemary is a natural antiseptic which mixed with mixed with Aloe has a cooling and relaxing effect on both the body and mind. The lotion restores smoothness to the skin after exfoliating in the bath restoring skin balance. In addition, the perfume lingers on your body for hours, insuring you smell fresh all day. If you check out the Aveda website (below) they have an amazing ingredients index in which you can read the benefits of the natural ingredients you're using in their products! All in all it's a genius product, the active ingredients are beneficial for your body and mind, at the same time as cleaning and soothing your body, whilst also ensuring you smell luscious! What more could you ask for? I use the travel sized ones as they're a great size to carry if you're going out and take up little space in the bathroom cupboard. They also last for a good 4-6 months!

I love... are also bath-must-haves!!! They do the most amazing exfoliating shower cream in the most beautiful aromas. Strawberries and milkshake smell fabulous but can get sickly so I like to alternate between this and the mango and papaya one which I am currently using. And why not alternate between lots of the sensuous products when they cost as little as £2.05!! This truly is a miracle product. They offer a whole collection where I can vouch to say that each product offered is truly wonderful. Another point I adore about this brands products is that they are a british brand and thus all their products are made in the UK making them ECO-FRIENDLY! So while you wash and smell amazing you are also helping to save the planet! Great eh?!

Lush offer the most luscious of bath bombs on the planet. Each bomb is bursting with a heavenly combination of different fragrances to make your bath experience extra special. Watching the bath-bomb explode and create fizzing frenzy around you never loses it's novelty no matter how old or young you are! Hence, these bombs make a perfect present for any occasion and age! The champagne supernova is my favourite bath bomb as it smells very fresh yet girly but they all smell so great it's hard to choose. It's rather big so I like to cut it in half to get two uses out of it as they are quite pricey. Lush also recognize the importance of equality and use organic, fair trade vanilla. Lovely jubbly. When I'm short on bath bombs I like to use bath cavier and salts instead. I don't have a favourite brand for these but you can tell me yours in the comment section below and I'll try it out!

Shampoo and conditioner is a must! I wash my hair separately with the shower head while I'm in the bath to keep it clean. I don't like to use the same shampoo or conditioner for too long as I get bored of the same smell and my hair becomes dull after using the same one for too long... One's I have used and loved are Alberto Balsam as his collection smells amazing from green apples to strawberries and cream, Aussie as they made my hair less frizzy and Miracle Moisture shampoo as it contains argon oil and is surprisingly available in Poundlound! Bargain!

To get into the bath mood I like to put a face mask on, I love the ones from Clarins but can't afford to buy them often. I also love the superdrug own brand ones as an alternative, they smell fabulous and don't burn a hole in your pocket. There are also many to chose from to target your every need and desire. I then put on some relaxing music, I've made a playlist on my iPod especially for this, however, I know that Lush offer bath time relaxing CD's that you can buy online! I also like to bring a refreshing drink to cool me down in the bath such as lemonade or peach ice tea whilst indulging in some freshly cut fruit or if I'm feeling naughty, chocolate.

Center Parks Review

Heya,
As I previously mentioned, I spent the week at Center Parks in Longleat with one of my best friends Shauna. Well, here is my quick summary.
Center Parks was such fun because I was with my friend so if you are thinking of going I'd suggest going with a big group of friends. The activities on offer are super expensive, especially for a student who's on a budget. I went to a pottery class where I painted a clockface for only £6, which I thought was quite a bargain. I went for a really cute Cath Kidston/ country theme. However, this is because we booked in advanced. Otherwise, it's £4 just for studio fee with anything you want to paint in addition to this price which can be anything from around £10 to £20 pounds.
After 2 days my bum was so sore from the bike saddles. So, if you want to be active and go for bike cycles during your stay or just to cycle to the plaza, I suggest you bring your own bike instead of hire one. Theirs are rather expensive and not the most comfortable things on the planet. Otherwise you can walk to the main events and areas however, this could take up to half an hour. On the other hand, it is quite a nice walk as you're walking past lakes and forest areas which are very picturesque and idyllic.
There are many resteraunts and places to eat around the park with amazing looking food from well known restaurants such as Strada. However, to save money I suggest you bring as much of your own food as you possibly can to save as much money as possible as the food available at center parks is quite dear, especially if you're on a budget.
Other than the obvious cost issues, center parks was great fun!
